HellermannTyton cable ties are produced by moulding Polylactic Acid, (PLA) a plant derived biodegradable material.

When treated in an appropriate environment such as a composting device, hydrolysis due to the effects of temperature and humidity, followed by biodegradation by micro-organisms, and finally almost all of it decomposes into water and carbon dioxide.

Applications:
Securing hoses, cables, poles and pipes etc in outdoor environments.
Used in agriculture, forestry, composting, outdoor events, for temporary signage, and outdoor constuction.

Cable tie breakage starts occuring after approximately 3 weeks of composting.
After 12 weeks of composting the ties are easily broken by hand.
